Marc David Harris

A young Uncle Rico for sure

Marc David Harris was born on Saturday, September 27, 2008 at 8:15 in the morning. He was 2 weeks early so we were a little surprised when he came so soon. I had gone to the doctor earlier that day and he told me that he would be surprised if we didn't have a baby by the weekend. So I went home and packed my bag for the hospital and tried to get as ready as I could. I also went on 2 walks which I hoped would help speed up the process. We went and visited some friends that night and finally ordered Marc's pack and play (I was waiting for a certain one to come back in stock, but it never did, so we got a different one).

About 10:30 that night Matt and I were both reading and all of the sudden my water broke. I told Matt and as calm as could be he asked what we were supposed to do next. I told him we needed to go the hospital, so Matt threw some last minute things into the hospital bag and we went to the hospital. We got all checked in and then the fun part of waiting began. I decided that I wanted an epidural, but that may not have been the best choice. It was too strong and I couldn't push, so they turned it off and we waited for a couple of hours until it wore off. I had a great nights sleep, but Matt and my mom weren't so lucky. They were trying to sleep in chairs, and ended up watching the Cosby show most of the night.

The epidural did wear off enough and a few hours later I was holding Marc in my arms. He was 8 lbs 11 oz and was 19 inches long. He had lots of dark hair and cute chubby cheeks. It was an amazing feeling to know that he was our son. There was an instant love that I can't even begin to describe. Everything was perfect about Marc from his little fingers right down to his little toes. Babies are truly a gift and I am grateful that Marc is ours.

Trip to Arizona

Matt and I just got back from a trip to Arizona. We made many stops along the way and I was grateful for that. Matt's friend Tanner came with us and kept Matt company while I slept in the back seat of the car. We went many places including Arches, Zions, Phoenix, and Saint George. I couldn't do much hiking, but Matt and Tanner were able to do some fun things. We went to our niece Alyssa's baptism and got to see some of Matt's family in Phoenix. In Saint George went shopping with Aunt Kathryn and had a great time with her and her kids. One of the highlights of the trip was going to see Les Miserables in an outdoor theater. It was amazing. Although trips are fun, it is so nice to be home.
