Luke

Luke is growing up way to fast.  He is very active and likes to do his own thing, which I am grateful for.  I sometimes feel like I don’t give him enough attention because a certain 2 year old demands so much more than he does.  I will often remember to get Luke out of his highchair long after the rest of us have finished eating.  But he doesn’t seam to mind so it’s going to keep happening!  He is walking all over the place now and can get to anything he wants.  He has found the cupboards which I am not pleased about, but he usually doesn’t get in them unless in am in the kitchen (which is far to often!)

Luke got sick after he was born and after test and a couple of hospital stays, they found he has reflux from his bladder to his kidney, which means his ureters are not implanted correctly and don’t work the way they should.  He has been on antibiotics to protect from urinary tract infections since then and has been just fine.  Last week he went in for tests to see if the problem had corrected itself, but it hasn’t so he needs surgery.  It is set for July 5th.  It is a fairly common surgery and he should be just fine afterwards.

From all this I have have learned a few things.  Bodies are amazing and truly created by our Heavenly Father.  There is no way we just “happened”.  We have a purpose here on Earth and our bodies allow us the chance to fulfill it.  I am also so grateful for a healthy body, and I am grateful that my children are healthy.  The small time we have spent seeing doctors has been emotionally and physically tiring and I can’t even imagine what families with really sick children go through, and my prayers go out to them.   We are truly blessed in so many ways and each day I learn that more and more.

Anyway Luke is so much fun and we love having him in our family!

Blessings

I find it amazing how something so simple can teach me such a big lesson.  With Luke’s surgery we have had some scheduling difficulties and had to change our plans for the summer.  I found myself frustrated and kinda mad that things couldn’t just work out the way I thought was best for us.  I still don’t know how everything is going to work out, but we will just pray it does!  So in all of this I couldn’t help but think that Heavenly Father could just make it all work.   Well then this stroller taught me a lesson.

I have been looking for a double stroller for when we are in San Diego, and just couldn’t decide what I wanted (especially on a limited budget).  One day I had the thought to check Craigs List, so I did.  And what did I see?  This stroller and it was so much less than anything else I had found.  I called and got it that night.  Right away I knew this was a blessing.  It didn’t solve our summer problems, but it was something that had been bugging me that I  could now forget about.  Blessing are interesting things, and are easy to miss, but I know this was a reminder that I am blessed in all many ways, and usually it’s not how I expect it to come.

Good News

We finally found out where Matt will be finishing his internships for school.  Drum roll please………Twin Falls, Idaho!  I am so excited that we will be closer to my family and I think they are too.  So now the plan is we will move to my parents in August and be there for a while until we go to San Diego for Matt’s first internship.  Then we will come back to my parents until after Christmas and then go to Twin.  It’s great to have a plan!  Other than that we are just enjoying the sun that has finally decided to come out.

We have also had sick kids so we have been doing many breathing treatments a day.  Every time Marc has to set everything up and push the button to turn it on.  He is becoming very independent which is nice in some ways, but a whole lot harder most of the time.  Well that’s about it for the Harris family for now.  Going to enjoy the sun before it starts to rain again!

Oh no!!!

Watch out world this kid can move!  Luke is now walking all over the place and is in to everything.  He looks innocent enough, but he destroys everything in his path.  He is growing up way too fast and is developing quite the personality.  We love our Luke!
