Thanksgiving in Oregon

We went to Oregon to be with Matt's brother and parents for Thanksgiving. It was a wonderful break and we had a great time with them. Thanksgiving dinner was awesome and we stuffed ourselves as best we could.

We went to a little zoo which Marc absolutely loved. He fed the goats, tried to pet some ponies, and saw lots of animals. It was fun to see Marc and his cousins having so much fun.

We also went on a little hike to a waterfall. It was beautiful and we had a good time. We are grateful to be back home, but can't wait to leave for Idaho in two weeks!!!

Who's There?

Marc loves cell phones and he always finds one. We let him play with one of our old ones and keep it charged for him. It is pretty funny to watch him "talk".

More Snow

More pictures in the snow. Marc loved it, the only problem was he didn't want to keep his mittens on because he wanted to be able to grab things. He also loved eating the snow and we had to keep him away from it, but he loved being outside nevertheless.

First Snow

Today we had our first real snow. There is still quite a bit left out there. I am not sure how well Marc liked it. His shoes have no traction and so he kept falling. I think we need to get him some snow boots and then he will do better. Anyway here is a little video of him in the snow, enjoy!

Happy Halloween

We really had a boring Halloween, sorry Marc. We went to a play group party on Friday and it was fun to see all the little costumes. Marc fit right in with all the big kids, just walking around checking everything out. On Saturday we got to see my sister Rebecca at the State Cross Country Meet in Coeur d'alene Idaho. It was fun to see her and to go to a XC meet. That night we had some friends over and we took Marc to our downstairs neighbor to go trick-or-treating, and that was the extent of our venture. It was a fun day and Marc was certainly the cutest frog I know.

The Playground

Marc absolutely loves going to the park so he can play on all the toys. Today we went and everything was wet, but I decided to let him play anyway. He loved it, but we were both filthy by the time we were done. Marc loves going down the slide and he goes head first. He has no fear and one day it is going to get him in trouble. These videos show to a small degree how crazy he is. Just as a disclaimer: No child was injured in the filming of these videos!!

Pumpkins

We went to a pumpkin patch with Matt's PT class. I have never seen so many pumpkins in my life. They also had a straw maze and a big pile of straw for the kids to play on, which Marc loved. I think the highlight was the pumpkin cannon. It was a 500 gallon propane tank filled with air hooked to a big pipe. It shot the pumpkin 900 ft per second in the air. The pumpkin was just a speck in the sky and we didn't see it land because it was too far away. It really was amazing. After that we went and carved the pumpkins. It was a fun day together!!

Marc is One

Marc is now officially one. We didn't really do anything too big today, but Marc got a cupcake and opened a few presents. Matt's parents got to participate via Skype which was fun. I cannot believe that Marc has been apart of our family for a whole year. The time has flown and it has been wonderful. Marc changes more and more each day. He has decided that he can walk, but he is not very steady and falls very often. His record is around 10 steps, and hopefully he will keep setting new records.

Seeing how this is a special day for Marc I thought that I would just share a few special things about him.

Marc loves to share and is very good at it, the problem is that he doesn't know when it is not ok to share. He shared some apple with one of our friends, the problem was he took a chunk out of his mouth and put it into hers. Nevertheless, we are happy that he is so willing to share with others, and hope that it continues.

Marc is very good at giving hugs and cuddling. In the morning or anytime we come home he will give very good hugs to us. It is so nice to feel like he has really missed us and is happy to see us. Lots of times when we play with Marc he will just lay his head down on us just to be close for a second. It is so cute and I love that he wants to be close to us. I hope that as he gets older he still wants to be close to us and will listen to the things that we try to teach him.

Marc is so happy. Everywhere we go Marc attracts attention because he is constantly jabbering and reaching out to people. He is not shy and warms up to people very quickly. He really is a good boy most of the time, and his only fault is that he is so busy and wears his mom out as she tries to rescue everything that comes into his path. He really does bring much happiness and joy into our home. He has a way of making a mess, but looking up so innocently that I can't help but laugh at him and just want to hug him. I am so lucky to be Marc's mom and love him so much. I hope this year is just as full of happy and fun times as the last one has been!!

Marc is all boy. He loves cars and trucks and will play with them for hours (which I love!!)

Here are some attempts at walking, not the best yet, but practice makes perfect.

General Relief Society Meeting

I just got back from the Relief Society Broadcast and I absolutely loved it. I feel uplifted and inspired to be a better woman. I love that there is an organization in the church that is for women and is run by inspiration. The music from the broadcast was amazing and I felt the spirit so strong. If you missed the broadcast you should watch it. Here is the link:

New Apartment

Well we are still working on getting boxes put away, so I will put pictures up when things are a little more organized!

Peek-a-boo and Chase

Marc loves to crawl into his room and close the door. Then he waits for us to come and open the door and say boo. He laughs and laughs. He also loves to be chased. I try to crawl but he is way too fast and it hurts my knees, so i end up pretending to crawl. Either way he seems to like it,

Marc's First 1st Birthday Party

I wanted my family to be apart of Marc's birthday and since it was close (3 weeks)I decided to have a party for him early. Matt said it was for me and i probably was, but I think Marc had fun playing in his cake. He got a little piano from my parents and he loves it. He will "play" the piano, "sing", and "dance" all at the same time. I had a fun time even if Marc didn't.

I Am Back

Well we have been busy, so busy that I have not posted in a long time. Marc has changed so much in that last few weeks. He certainly has developed a personality. He loves playing and is very active. Here are a few pics of Marc.

Puppy Love

Marc loves my parents dog Meg. Anytime he sees her he says, "Doggie" even though it sounds very much like daddy, we are convinced he is really saying doggie. Meg is very good at taking all the attention Marc gives her, like pulling her ears and tail, pulling himself up and standing with her help, and trying to bite her (I am not sure why he does this and I try to prevent it!). He will try to chase her when she leaves becuase he could never get enough of her.

Backpacking in Wyoming

Matt and I went backpacking with my family in the Wind Rivers for 3 days. We left Marc with my Aunt and I am very grateful he wasn't there. We had a fun time, but it was a lot of walking. We were worried about the weather, but it turned out to be ok for us. The second night there was a big storm and we woke up to ice on our tents. Not many of us slept well that night. Marianne was up at 4 trying to start a fire. I heard her, but thought there was no way there would be a fire at that time of the morning. I should have gotten up because then my toes would have been able to thaw out.

That morning when we got up it was looking a little stormy so we hurried and packed up our camp. About the time we were getting done it started to snow on us. My dad was convinced we were going to wait for the "drifting" to stop before we started hiking out, but we didn't want to wait so we hiked out in the snow for about half-an-hour. We were vary grateful for the rain jackets we threw in at the last minute. The Wind Rivers are beautiful and we loved being able to be out enjoying them for a few days.

Overlooking the Cirque of Towers on a day hike we went on

Matt and I loving the hike

You can't tell, but it is snowing at this point.

Matt is exploring this rock. The whole time I was yelling, "Be safe, come back" and he was trying to ignore me!

To Washington We Go???

Well today Matt got a very surprising call letting him know that he was accepted to Eastern Washington in Spokane. Now we have a make a decision, do we still go to Denver even though it is forty thousand dollars more, or change plans again and go to Spokane. We think we are going to go to Spokane, but we have until Monday to decide so we will let you know what we end up deciding.

***We have decided to go to Washington. School there doesn't start until September 23, so we will be in Firth at my parents for a while longer than expected!!!

Marc

Marc continues to grow and learn new things each day. He is so much fun and we love him. He is constantly getting into things and eating things. I promise I feed him enough, but he always tries to eat things like raw potatoes and onions. I tried to help him out and gave him an apple instead. I thought he would chew on it a little and then loose interest, but he ate almost the whole thing. It was really funny to watch because he just left in on the ground and ate it.

Marc always seams to find either dirty or expensive things to try and eat. His two favorite things are the bathroom and computers, both of which we are trying to discourage. We have been a few hikes this summer and Marc loves it. He is always the most happy when we are outside. He is really starting to get around now, but is still not walking. He uses the furniture and any available person to help him get around.

We took him to an orthopedic surgeon today to look at his right foot which is turned inward. He told us that he needs corrective shoes which he will need to wear until he is two. So on Friday we are going to another doctor who will fit him for the shoes. My biggest fear is that they are only going to have really ugly shoes, but I guess I will just have to deal with it!!!
