Church with Elder Bednar

Today at church we had a special experience. Elder Bednar was at our sacrament meeting. We sat in the front row right in front of him. When he got up to talk he told us how much he loved being able to be in sacrament meeting and hearing all the children. Then he said he had to point out one little boy (Marc). He warned the chorister that Marc had a crush on her, and that he had been checking her out the whole time as she was leading the music. Then when she sat down he was playing with the little girl in front of him. Elder Bendnar warned us that we had a little flirt on our hands. This of course made Matt proud!!! All while Elder Bednar was saying this Marc was smiling and laughing at Elder Bednar. It was way funny.

It was so neat to have an apostle so close to us and to hear him teach. He told us parents to just keep on doing the things that we are doing. He told us about he and his wife trying to have scriptures, family home evening, and prayer and feeling like their children were getting nothing out of them. But despite all of the hard times they were consistent and that is what their children remember. He told us that the consistency is what would teach our children more than what we teach.

It was a neat meeting and it was good to see that the apostles are real men who have gone through the things which we have.

That is such a cool story. I bet Marc will cherish it when he is older. I reminded me of a similar thing that happened to my brother. When he was a toddler he wore one of my dad's ties to stake conference. There was a visiting apostle there, but I can't remember who. Anyway, he came up to my brother and said, "one day you'll be big enough to wear your dad's tie." My parents still love telling that story. Thanks for sharing Elder Bednars remarks too :)
